3 Things i hate about my iMac

I've waited too long and tried not to publish this post, as to avoid shimata from PC users, also not to regret the money i spent on buying it. BUT, it really starts to get on my nerves.
So, Mac geeks, it's time to help your fellow Mac user out here, but please refrain from using geek terms and instructions because I'm still a dummy confused
  1. It lags ALOT! When i open any P2P application it just won't function smoothly. Clicking links became a pain in the --- because my iMac can't understand the fact that i actually clicked a link and wanted to be redirected to another page. It also lags when i use Photoshop, the program seems to be too heavy on my Mac that every option i use takes ages to load and apply on the project; pretty annoying when using such program because it has to be fast to be efficient.
  2. It disconnects regularly every 10 minutes when i open Vuze. Otherwise, it stays connected if i closed it. I can't download anything. The speed is great and pretty fast but it keeps on disconnecting ;\. I'm using the e-go service btw.
  3. Even when i use my Mac for non internet purposes, there's a slight a lag in the operating system.
So ...... help!

I don't recommend any P2P programs other than Transmission since most of the others are written in old non-native or legacy (Carbon) frameworks for the Mac.

Which version of Photoshop are you using? Versions prior to CS3 are not optimized intel builds so you would be running them under emulation with Rosetta. The same is true with Office for Mac 2004.

Like Azureus, Limewire and such, Vuze is written in Java, which consumes a lot of CPU and RAM resources. Java is great for making software work on many platforms, but it's hardly optimized. Try reducing the number of connections in your settings and see if that helps.

Make sure that the software you have is either built for "Intel" or is "Universal" for best results. To check, go to your applications folder, click on an application then select "Get Info" (command+I). Read what it says next to "Kind: Application".

If you are experiencing lag even with all apps closed, you need to run Disk Utility, select your hard drive and click Repair Disk Permissions.

Hope that helps.

3baid comment was absolutely perfect!

I wanted to tell you the same regarding the photoshop issue.

Based on looking at your "dock", chenah 3enech too much softwares :)

What I recommend is:
1. Download OnyX as it can help you to repair the flash/java issues. Moreover, it can help you to delete/manage/clean several unwanted or unused files and also minimize RAM usage.

2. Buy iMac-compatible RAMs.

I know what you're going through, the main problem is with something cold BIOS-HYPERTHRIDENTAL chip, just go to any mac repair shop & tell them bois hyper is not working very well, its a long story apple actually lost millions in court because of that. it has nothing to do with rams or "lots of software" thats just stupid. a 1 Gig ram cant be full in like 10 min! thats just stupid :)

3baid said it all.

On the other hand I think one of the cr@p load of apps they installed for you is probably causing the problem. You shouldn't have let them touch your brand new mac at first place, you could have installed only the apps you need from the internet.

Mac gives me trouble every once in a while. But I love it too much to complain. It's an 'in sickness and in health' relationship between me and my Mac.
