Parquet or Marble?

We're moving back to our house at the end of this month so imagine the work laid on our shoulders since the house was rented before. All the cleaning the renovating gosh this must be alot of fun. Anyhow that's not the case; i love moving to new places because it gives you this opportunity of starting over and personalizing your spot.

However, i'm stuck with this dilemma. For those who know me well, i'm extreme perfectionist when it comes to minding my own goodies. Therefore, i like things to be clean, spotless and flawless and much importantly, remain brand new even after a decade of consuming it. For god's sake my car's interior's still wrapped even though it's been a year and a half since i bought it :D

Anyways, what concerns me the most is the possibility that my parquet floor has been damaged or has the least scratch which is enough to make my life more miserable. I have the least trust of people to take care of my stuff when i hand it over so i'm thinking of doing some major changes but handling the floor is a priority for a start.

What's it gonna be? a keep or change it to marble\ceramic?
I've always loved the idea of Americanizing my room, i.e. parquet floors, white furniture, white door, huge closet etc but the dusty weather won't leave you a chance will it?
The floor literally gave me a hard time cleaning it since it collects dust pretty fast. I had to vacum it first and then sweep it every other day and still, it won't pay off. So i thought of marble\ceramic since they're lighter in color and the dust won't appear for some time. Besides, it won't hurt my brain of thinking that i might scratch it everytime i move furniture around.
I'll go check my room in couple of days to estimate the damage if there's any, of course there will be what am i talking about! .... Grrr, allah yaster.

About 3 weeks ago, my sister had a room makeover, the change of floor was from carpet to ceramic and its amaaaaaaazing (especially the cold tingling of the floor when you walk barefooted :P)

if I were you, I'd use this as an excuse to renovate my whole room. Get ceramic, repaint the walls, go buy and install unnecessary things that'll decorate your room and make it cozy.

I would kill for a beautiful parquet floor - can it be refinished?

On the other hand, in this climate - marble is probably more practical, cooler, easier to keep clean and pristine.

Note: I take them out of the oven before they start to turn dark! Do not double this recipe, or they don't bake soft.

Bake them at 150 degrees C. for 10-15minutes.

"my car's interior's still wrapped"

@_@ *chokes*

"i'm extreme perfectionist"

and mildly paranoid? :O (no offense but don't you find the wrapping silly? You can always get stains cleaned you know :/)

erm.. yeah.. parquet is more of a warm cosy feel rather than the harsh cold marble, but it also depends on where you plan on placing it around the house.

Looks: Parquet.
On the long run: Ceramic.

I don't see any differences between parquet and ceramic when it comes to advantages and disadvantages but the way I see it parquet is better when it comes to moving around, its not as stiff as ceramic, but it can be easily damaged.

My opinion: Parquet all the way.

It depends on which ceramic you'd be getting. "soft" ceramic is very clean but it cracks horribly, hard ceramic appears coarse and dirtier but it is actually very clean and doesn't break or scratch easily.

I say parquet! it's soo classic and elegant and doesnt bind ur color choices for the rest of the stuff in the room especially if it were cherrywood-colored.

:D

I personally love parquet for bedrooms. It's cozier. But taking ur perfectionist/OCD into consideration, i'd say go for the marble since like u said it doesnt scratch easy and all. Less anxiety to deal with.

Well I guess everyone has the redecorating bug, huh?

I would go with ceramic- cuz it stays so clean and it doesnt scratch easily and there are so many choices to choose from in terms of color and texture and so on. Plus its definately cost effective.however if u want to splurge I wud go for marble cuz its just plain beautiful in any color. One time I saw a dark blue marble with tiny specks of broken glass inlaid inside and it was just gorgeous. They also have a deep red which was just as beautiful butthat wud be for a room ucouldnt change the color scheme too so stick with something that can give u decorating options in terms of color and so on- have fun hun!!

I am bringing someone to paint my kids room, cuz I dont have the mood to do it, but I want to give it a new look with the new baby and all and I am letting the kids choose the color- LOL!!! God help me!

Navy,
I guess we have something in common then :D
I still haven't seen it yet but if there were any scratches even the tinest one i'll definitely change it.

Hamza,
Wow congratulations.
I wanna have that feeling too, i've never had ceramic floor before so it'll be something different for me.

Intlxpatr,
I haven't got your question :D

Missy,
IT SOUNDS DELICIOUS!
Goes to try it.

Parquet missy it easy to scratch :\

3baid,
It's ok :P
I've tried removing it but everytime i do, i feel my heart is being ripped out.
I don't trust those cleaning companies, they don't come to the result of which i desire so i prefere to do things my way ;)

The floor is my rooms. I still haven't decided though.

Fayoora,
Our house is rented and now the tenant is going out to his country so basically we're moving back to our house again.

Mac,
I disagree.
I can't seem to move furniture that easy, simply because i'm afraid it'll be scratched which obviously will have.
I don't like scratched floors :\

Kj,
Humm, i think the hard one, I can't afford another pethatic floor :P

Kinan,
Ok why am i the only one who looks at it from a cleaning aspect! :P
Cherrywood looks hot but it won't be for long since it'll be covered with dust :\
What a shame.

outkasty,
lol, OK :P

Shoush,
Finally! Someone who agrees :P

Nonowa,
That's soo sweet, i'm sure they have a great taste but if they don't, well, KM is there to pay isn't he :P

Shoosha,
Yes :P

Sene,
I know, i'm just taking some opinions.
