.
Now where shall i start .....
.
The play in general was well made and i couldn't imagine other actors doing it, simply because they fascinated me with their performance. The make-up artist and the designer did a great job prudently choosing make-up and costumes that really suits the historical element of the myth and the composer blew my mind with the tremendous and definitely rousing background music.
.
Now moving to the plot. To tell you the truth, i was kinda disappointed for two reasons. First, it was in arabic, but that's not it. They made it worse by getting out of the script "as planned apparently" and started quoting some Kuwaiti slangs like "maby, enta shako, bs 3ad, omy hnee" and many more. Second, during the show, they mocked some aspects of the myth by presenting us with humorous chorus, funny lines and some childish representations of the main plot. Those two reasons are quite enough to make a typical kuwaiti play whether it was dramatic or comedy, and i'm sure we all agree on the presence of these factors in each and every Kuwaiti play in the cultural area of this country. That's what made the performance a Kuwaitized Version of the myth.
.
Sadly, i can't completely relate to the genuine story except for the general idea that the performance was originally based on. They could have maintained the dramatic essence of the myth which are love, regret, power, longing and desire because those things were never taken for granted in the Greek Mythology. Take Sophocles, Virgil and Homer for example, no elements of humor were combined in their works!
My point is, they ruined the dramatic picture of the myth.
.
I don't mean for this to be a destructive criticism, No. I liked the work from the Kuwaitized Version point of view. It was brilliant from them to combine both Greek mythology and modern art into a piece like that. This is where i say i'm amazed. But when it comes to the real work, i would say i wasn't bedazzled. I would prefered it to be in English. But who knows? maybe i figured it out all wrong and that they meant it to be Kuwaitized art in the first place!
They've done an amazing job though.
- Sorry for low picture quality.

The last show they did wasn’t that good either but as you mentioned amateurs.... time will perfect it
Good to know that there are kuwaiti groups that perform such art.
My god this play is my nightmare .. but I think its good .. my friend is a big fan of those plays ..
I am not aware of this play. But I think that if they wanted to make it a localized kuwaiti version then I'd definitely wanna see Dawood Hussein acting in a dramatic role..heheheheh
I was a bit disappointed that I missed it, but since it was in Arabic, I'm fine. glad u enjoyed it though.
