Damn you diet!

I've been on a diet for like umm ...... 6 years. Yes, six years! During the first months of the first year went smoothly so i lost 17 Kilos. As for the rest, it varied between losing and gaining weight, eating moderately, healthy and sometimes binge eat, until i got to my current result; 9+ kilos of the whole lost weight which makes the total weight loss drop to 8 kilos!
So, i decided to stick to a healthy diet that helps lose weight and nourishes my skin. The newly planned diet includes:
  • Breakfast: Eat one piece of toast with cheese or labna to help quicken the metabolism process in the morning.
  • Lunch: Have a salad [cucumber, lettuce, carrots and sometimes vita cheese] or grilled chicken\meat for the sake of proteins.
  • Dinner: any kind of fruit and green tea.
  • Between meals: sometimes i lose it and have chocolate or any kind of sweets but i try regularly to drink freshly squeezed pineapple and kiwi juice.

That's it! The only thing that's not helping me BIG TIME is that i don't exercise. It's not that i don't want to, but I'm extremely tied up with college and work. Both places require me to sit, and not to mention driving, you don't drive while walking!!! and when i get home at 8 i feel exhausted so i sloth in front of the TV with my mug trying to slip away from my hideous daily routine and not move a single muscle, for the sake of being tired and need to have a time off and relax.

But, the weight is not dropping down! There were days where i starved myself hoping to see my stomach sticking to my back but i can't! I'm not losing weight and i don't know why :'( I know for sure that my diet is healthy and only lacks exercise but apart from all this, it's all fine and recommended by doctors. But why? i didn't lose a single freaking kilo since i started the whole thing, 3 months ago! damn it, i swear this is not getting any better by all means!

I think the best diet plan is to follow the following: “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper”. Exercise and physical activity are extremely importnat. They burn the fat!! So try to find sometime, maybe wake up a bit early to do some before leaving to class!I should start exercising before giving advice to others!!:(

it could be that you DON'T need to lose weight. One way to check is to use the BMI (Body Mass Index) and put your height and current weight and it will tell you if you are normal, underweight or obese..so if you are NORMAL..DON'T, just DON'T overstress yourself with the idea of losing more weight

I think hamza made a very good point! i found a website that calculates the BMI for you: http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/bmi.php?weight=0&weightunits=kg&height=0&heightunits=cm&Submit=Calculate

have you heard of G.I. diet? if you want to lose weight and want variety of food but dont want to get bored after 2 weeks and lose it and go binge eating you should seriosly try it. it gives you the chance to plan your diet and eat whatever you want as long as you are eating the right portion and the right combination of food! you can eat pizza and fries (not together and not on the same day) but still lose weight! i tried it and i lost weight. but of course you have to be active.. if you dont like to exercise .. try dancing! i do it and it is really effective;D goodluck

loala

it could be that ur not eating enough

you see thats how our body works
u need to give it food so it would burn the extra fat

if u eat the minimum ur body would go into survival mode and just store the food, making it maintain its weight

u mite not be eating as healthy as u think u are

try to add a spoon of olive oil in your salad for lunch

and have the salad with a breast of chicken or grilled meat, salad alone does not give your body the nourishment it needs

for dinner eat fruit instead of just drinking juice

its better if you stick to one kind a night like one day eat ragee, oo the next day apples

for breakfast try to incorporate a boiled egg evey now and then

avoid carrots, mangoes, bananas, grapes, and strawberries

ofcourse the best thing you can eat is vegetables... lots of vegetables
grilled or steamed

hope that helps

if you need more diet tips or food regiments email me :)

Well in addition to what Hamza mentioned, the whole diet gets down to the simple calorie in vs. calorie out. To lose your weight just make sure that you burn more calories than ingesting. A total of 500 calories less than those being ingested can lead to losing a pound weekly (provided that working out is a daily routine)

If you are aiming more towards the quality of your weight being loss (losing fat rather than your muscles) then you have to fix your calories intake into higher portins of protein, sticking to Low-GL carbs (low glycemic index) and low fat intake while maintaining good fats, omega 3-6-9 (Sesame, olive, nuts). Keep in mind that High GL carbs might be necessary to nourish your body cells to strike up the insulin levels in your body after you workout only.

A portion of exercise is essential for optimal physical results, you don't wanna lose the weight and have flabby skin all around.

P.S.
You should calculate your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) in order to obtain a more accurate count for the calories you need to burn to drop down your calories maintenance level.

thanx Hasan.b for the website, i tried it and i get normal but still i m not satisfied, my problem is not the overweight, it is in the distribution of the weight, So i know that i don t need diet as much as i need to make some sports. so Ms Loala sorry for the long-windedness, what i want to say that our wieght problems will not be solved by diet only, you need to give time for sports, good luck , hope you ll be as you wish to be.

I would go with Hamza, however, you should know that the optimum two diets are Atkin's and the "eat everything but in smaller quantities" diet. Ya3ni if you eat in a 12 inch plate, eat in a 9 inch plate. Psychologically they will be the same (1 plate) and you need to suppress the urge to put in another round.

I need to gain weight, but I don't know how. LoL.

Kj:

The Atkin diet is not a healthy one.

apparently, you're classified as "slow-metabolizer". So the only way to make your metabolism much faster and start losing weight is rising your temp.* within the normal range which is [36.8-37.3] by jogging/harwala [NOT WALKING!!]. Make sure to cover 5 Km within 1 hour a day!

* there are many things that contribute to changing the metabolism, temp. is one of them

hasan.b,
I'm eating like a prince the whole day, does that count? :p
And sadly i'm not a morning person, so it's nearly impossible for me to excercise at this time =\
Thanks for the site.

hamza,
My BMI is 24.1 and and the normal BMI is 18.5 - 25, so i'm normal but that's not satisfying since i'm one number away from being Overweight, so i guess i'm not THAT normal.

Lost in dubai,
First of all welcome aboard ;)
I don't hate sports at all but i can't find the time to do some. I'm really tied up with college and work =\

ni3na3ah,
Do you have a link to this diet? it sounds interesting since i love junk :p
And welcome aboard minti ;)

eshda3wa,
Do you know that i do all what you said? i don't have a salad unless it comes with a dressing and i do have chicken with it from time to time. But what a good advice you have, will do inshalla.

touche',
I'm really impressed by what you said? are you a nutritionist? or specialized in diet plans? I could really use some other advices if you have.
And welcome to my blog :)

elijah,

Yoga burns calories?

nostalgia,
I'm trying walla to balance my diet with excercise.
Welcome aboard sweety ;)

Hun, me and u are in seperate boats!! I am just the opposite of u- i want to gain weight..but I cant.

I used to do ballet and we used to be on a veggie/fruit diet before performances. I cud easily lose 3-4 kilos in a week. But I am afraid that cud send ur body into shock when u just think about biting into a hamburger.

Also, everyone is different so u shud go to a nutritionalist so she/he can evaluate ur case. And exercise is a must.
Just dance around ur room for like an hour and sweat like crazy. Just dont stop moving- keep a pace.

I wish u luck hun and if anyone knows how to gain a few- let me know- please...

Elijah said...

If u do yoga properly, you sweat like a pig honey, nothing moves the muscles like it.

nonowa,
I don't like sticking to certain diets, they're gonna depress me and i'll start eating more =\

You can gain weight, eat enourmous amount of junk food and you'll be all weighty :p

elijah,
That's strange from a calm sport! but it's hard for me to stretch my muschles, you know, i'm not that fit
