I'm beating the crap out of my hardware soon. It's been acting real crazy and i can't tolerate craziness and total self-idiocy at the same time :\
So here's what's happening:
I'm trying to burn movies with 4GB CDs but my stupid PC keeps saying there's no disk in drive. So i thought there must be a problem solely with my PC. I inserted the CD in two other computers but again the note keeps saying there's no disk!!! So i figured there could be a problem with the brand itself; though it was HP [!!!!]. I went and bought another brand; TDK hoping for a soothing result. Yet it says there's no freaking disk in drive ....!!!!!!!!!!
I mean what have i done to deserve just a nerve wrecking process?
It's friggin' plain and simple yet i can't make the deed.
I assumed that maybe the reason why it's not starting is because i don't have enough space capacity in my C drive? there's only 1GB left due to the enormous load of movies and songs ...
So, what's wrong?
For the record, i tried a 700MB CD and it worked perfectly fine .......
As for my previous entry about the cable thingy. It's unfortunate to say that none of it worked :( except for the idea of buying another cable, i don't know how it looks exactly. And if i asked the salesman about it who will absolutely be an Indian, he'd probably misguide me the way his fellow citizen did before and many others did also ages before!!!!
Aggggh! i still can't forget the time where websites, colors and animations were distorted. I took it to various so-called technicians to fix it where they performed multiple drive formats, changed my graphic card and ripped me lots of money but the problem appeared to be from my network provider!!!
Damn those idiots!!! I'll never trust them again :\
I must admit. My abilities to fix tiny problems have shrinked. I'm officially stupid and hating it :\

Ok, that made me smile because I have only one question for you...
Does your CD drive burn DVDs?
If No then problem solved.
Some drives can only read DVDs but cannot write on them.
Regarding your older techie problem, it must be your video/graphic card. Maybe it cannot handle that signal.
Now you made me smile.
If course it burns DVDs :P
I've just burned The Vacancy on the 700MB that i mentioned earlier ...
Come on i'm not THAT dumb :P
Dear Loala...
CDs = *** Mega Byte
DVDs = *.* Giga Byte
* = number
As far as I know...
CDs can hold up to 800MB.
DVDs can hold up to 9.4GB (Dual Layer).
Not to mention BlueRay (+40GB)
Your drive can read/write on CDs but can only read from DVDs.
That's why it tells you "There's no disk in drive" once you insert a blank DVD (4.7GB) because it actually cannot read or write on a blank DVD.
^ Whoa!
Check the time of my comment! :D
Spooky! lol xD
Now how many times you make me look dumb? :'(
I guess you're right, it never crossed my mind that CDs are different from DVDs....
So does that mean i should change my Drive?
And wait a minute .. how do know all these stuff?
Hey Loala
I think I agree with Mac. You have a DVD reader, not a DVD writer.
The following photo is a typical DVD reader AND writer: http://www.trustedreviews.com/images/article/inline/2156-intro.jpg
The following is a typical DVD reader ONLY: http://www.pcdirectsource.com/ProdImages/goldstar_16x_dvd_large.jpg
If you drive reads AND writes DVDs, you will find stuff like RW, DVD Multi, Super Multi, Dual Layer, etc, written on it. If it only reads DVDs and does NOT write DVDs, you can only find the brand name and the word DVD written on it. Hope this helps.
Hehe... Sorry for that, no bad intentions. :P
You need to change your drive. Get a DVD writer, it'll write on normal CDs as well.
How do I know? I guess I've reached the peak of computer nerdness. lol! Naahhhh.. it doesn't take an astronaut to understand all that. :P
*shakes his head in disappointment*
and here I was thinking of giving you membership for my MENSA clan. Looks like I'll give it to mac after all. ;)
Any luck? :)
I have one input to the previous cable problem if not too late.
First the cable. Why are you using this complex setup? you see the yellow port on the computer right next to the port you're messing up with? use this one instead with a standard audio/video cable that you can take from your DVD player or buy one from the supermarket.
Next, after you connect it, go to your computer and right click on the desktop. Click properties, then search there for an option to switch ON the video output to TV. Some cards require this.
Good luck :)
Kj,
You're a techy too? :P
I'm buying a DVD writer today, hope it works.
Mac,
I'm getting one today.
Just don't disappear in case i needed a techy ok :P
Hamza,
MENSA clan? "looks puzzled"
I guess KSA has literally brainwashed you.
Mac will wait, now where's my medal? :P
3baid,
Well, i'm buying a DVD writer today *fingers crossed*
Hitman1,
And connect the other head to the TV? is it yellow too?
