I know alot of people are celebrating Valentine's Day just for the sake of it, or in imitation of other couples so that their mate doesn't feel neglected. Now I'm not gonna bore you with the whole "it's not 7alal" or "it's doesn't depend on this particular day to express how much i love a certain somebody" thing, but i do have a different opinion. It's ok to celebrate it with the one you love, but in 10 years from now will you adore it just as the same you do now? will it have a sufficient importance? What i mean is, is the one you're celebrating V-Day with worth the effort? ok i know you all like "duuh then why we're out in the first place?" what i mean is, there's difference between love and passion. I love my family, i love my friends, i love my life, i love the people i work with but, does Valentine's Day makes me passionate about them? will this day symbolize a fight and a journey made together?
My point is, or as i see it, V-Day should portray the fight of being together, the passion that makes you whole again, the reason you're surviving, and the noble purpose you're fighting for, not just candle light dinner with i love you note and a kiss.
I say, let us fight for the ones we love, not just in V-Day but everyday! If you have the slightest instinct that makes you believe that you should be with this someone then you deserve to be together. We're all born passives, give up on small and big things for they don't have that effect in our hearts, but when it all changes towards that someone then it's worth the fight. It is worth the pain and it is worth the agony.
Don't just give up in the middle of the road thinking it's not meant to be. You don't wanna wake up in the next 10 years wondering: what if i took the time to fight and push a little, will it pay off? of course it'll pay off if you set your mind and body to it. Forget about the pain, forget about the sorrow, forget about the sleepless nights and the tears that were hailing during it. It is better to enjoy one minute of real feeling than one decade of fake one. Believe me, it is worth it. And if you think in your mind that you are incapable of carrying on then ask god to strengthen your heart. Because if it was noble and genuine, then god will grant you the lifetime happiness you've ever wished for. It's a battle indeed, but the one who has a reason will win.
Just think about it, if you have never been this confused and happy in the same time, then it is worth it. If you believe it's special and thrilling, then it's worth it. If you believe that this someone is dear enough for you to give up the world then it's definitely worth it. Just keep faith in your heart and you'll survive. And Happy Valentine's Day to those who fight to be together.

eshda3wa,
lol! It's true..
And welcome to my blog :)
I believe that days like Valentine, Mother's day, Halloween and many others act as reminders of the things that we might miss because of how busy we are in life. We should always fight, but the least that someone could do is to be as much romantic as possible on Valentine.
That was will said hamza, but how holloween can be a reminder? It doesnt have a significance as opposed to v-day or mothers day..
Shops and restuarants love this day! They don't care who love who or who is lonely! They care about who is gonna buy the stuff and who is taking his or her loved one to have dinner. Most of the other days are the same too! They became a money making occasions rather than their real goal.
I agree with Hamza - they are reminders for all of us to remember that we have lives and people around us and are not only slaves to the industry.
Hopeless poet,
It's not something new, even on eid they raise the prices, greedy selfish creatures!
KJ,
"thumps up"
I love Smarties!
hitman1,
We're not talking about celebrating it, but, it's often nice if you remembered your spouse with it .. A romantic dinner with a flower doesn't necessarily mean you're celebrating it.
fayoora,
I'm sure he loves you too ;p
